INVERARAY CASTLE

Ancestral home of the Campbell family and the Earls and Dukes of Argyll.  The castle was built in 1789 by the 5th Duke of Argyll and is still the home today of the current Duke and his family.  We had the pleasure of touring the castle in October of 2012.  We were told that it is one of the best maintained castles in Scotland.  The rooms were as beautifully kept as the outside and John especially enjoyed the weapon room with its many guns and swords.  After returning home we saw the castle and rooms again on television in the Masterpiece Classic "Downton Abbey" when the family went to a 'hunting lodge--the castle' in Scotland.

Starting a Family Genealogy Website

As I was pondering today on Family and Genealogy and how the best way to go about sharing it with Family and friends, I thought a website would be the best way.  Because I do keep my records on a Legacy program on my computer, it is difficult to share that with others (not impossible, just not convenient). My parents, John and Robin have files upon files of histories for both of their sides, and they are so amazing to read through.  So, my thoughts were to have these stories shared this way and hopefully my family will be able to share their histories and records and pics and things on this site.
I am still trying to figure out how to get a family tree, or pedigree chart posted on this site, but I bet my brother Craig or one of the others will know better how to do that.  I am really excited and hope that this is a wonderful thing for our peeps:) (you just have to know me to know that is my word for the people I love and surround myself with) -Katie
